Nearly a decade ago, I found myself sitting on the floor in front of our fireplace engaged in the process of creating a word collage. I had chosen the exercise as a way to seek clarity around life, purpose, career… you know, all those little things that seem to keep us up at night. With a stack of magazines next to me and a scissors in hand, I began looking through the pages for words that seemed to resonate with me. When I found one, I simply cut it out and placed it in a stack on the carpet. After my pile increased in size, I began arranging the words into sentences. Before long, I had assembled phrases and sentences that connected with me deeply, and to this day, I am still moved by that experience.
I glued the paper fragments to cardboard, and I still have them today. In fact, I go back to them every so often and I seem to understand them more deeply each time. I have a sense of the overall meaning of the collection, but that’s for another day. However, one of the phrases is particularly important to our desire to create Illuminate Life Studio.
“Desire to inspire excited worshippers who really care about the art of material world living.”
When I first assembled this sentence, I could not have known how incredibly specific it really was. At that time, I simply could not have understood. I was unaware of so much.
Fortunately, things have changed, and, today, I have a beautiful understanding of its message. Allow me to break it down.
Desire to inspire…
The foundation of our mission at Illuminate Life Studio is our faith-filled desire to breathe life into people. We believe that we do this best when we immerse ourselves in the spirit of this passion. Inspire, means, “to fill someone with the urge or ability to do or feel something, to breathe in, especially in the divine sense, to impart a truth or idea to someone.” Here at the Life Studio, we desire to inspire!
…worshippers who really care…
In our society, the term “worship” is often used in the context of religion. At the Life Studio, our use of the term is not so much a religious one as it is an awareness of our connection to the Divine. Worship is less about “doing” and more about recognizing who we really are through an abiding understanding that we have been created in God’s image and authentically desire to reconnect with the Spirit for the purpose of reflecting Love and Light to all of creation. Worshippers are seekers. Worshippers are those who are on the path of discovery. They are those who genuinely desire to engage in the pursuit of truth, growth, and a transformed life.
…about the art of material world living.
An art is a practiced and honed skill, and living in this physical world requires no less than a beautiful integration of understanding, technique, and passion, and the classes, retreats, and coaching at the Life Studio are all designed for this purpose. Our coaches and instructors work to create experiences and offer resources that awaken understanding, demonstrate technique, and inspire passion!
Time and again, we hear about how a person’s life has been changed because of their experience at one of our classes or retreats, or because of the private coaching they received. The pursuit of growth and transformation always yields a harvest. We look forward to helping you on your journey, wherever you are.
